Please note that the Quakers Project uses Monthly Meetings for categorisation purposes, not Quarterly Meetings or local Preparative Meetings

  • Balby Monthly Meeting: 1669 to present
  • Bridlington Monthly Meeting: 1669-1773 when its two remaining constituent meetings were transferred to other Monthly Meetings
  • Brighouse Monthly Meeting: 1669 to present
  • Cave Monthly Meeting: 1669-1784 when it merged with Owstwick Monthly Meeting to form Hull Monthly Meeting
  • Elloughton Monthly Meeting, the original name of Owstwick Monthly Meeting
  • Guisborough Monthly Meeting: 1669 to present
  • Hull Monthly Meeting: 1784 to end of 1858 when it merged with Pickering Monthly Meeting to form Pickering and Hull Monthly Meeting. Known as Owstwick and Cave Monthly Meeting for the earlier part of this period

Would it be possible to make a category for the Bolland Monthly Meeting? I am working on families from that meeting, and although Bolland records are contained within Settles Meeting on Ancestry.com, I do not want to group them in Settles. A couple of the families are that of Henry Bayley, and John Shires.

I wish for more knowledge of the huge isle across the Atlantic. Looking at this https://journals.sas.ac.uk/fhs/article/download/5103/4989/ Bolland is a PM? Am I related to that Bayley line?

I think David is right and that Bolland was never a Monthly Meeting. As far as I can see it was a "particular" (ie local) meeting, coming under Settle Monthly Meeting. This would appear to be confirmed by the webpage for which Brenda gave a link: it refers to families at Bolland coming under Settle Monthly Meeting. The Quakers Project uses Monthly Meetings for categorisation, not local meetings.

If there is evidence that Bolland functioned as a Monthly Meeting in the early years of Quakerism, the category can be created, limited to the period in which Bolland was a Monthly Meeting in its own right.

The Yorkshire Minutes of Women's Quarterly Meeting 1678-1785, does show "The Testimoney of Women Friends wthin Bollands particular meeting 1679" - See familysearch.org: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C39D-X9CM-J?i=321&cat=543162

Piece 1116, The Monthly Meeting of Settle (1652-1775) is a register for Birth, Marriage, which has an index page for the various meetings within Settle - here is a link to a viewable image on ancestry.com: https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/28915408?h=8710dd

With that said, I will change the wording on the profiles I work on to Bolland Particular Meeting, but I will not add the Settle Category to the profiles. My reasoning is that the Settle Meeting was so far from where my Shires' families lived, and that particular Bayley' family, that some researchers might confuse the Shires families living within close proximity to the Settle Meeting. I do not want the families to then be conflated.

David I don't know your Bailey lineage, but I will be adding profiles for children to Henry Bayley's profile.
